Demorest, GA - The Piedmont College women's tennis team dropped a 7-2 decision to Agnes Scott Saturday at Burgen Tennis Courts. The Lady Lions move to 5-7 overall on the season and 2-1 in conference play with the loss. 

MORGAN BUCHHOLZ and AMANDA BLACKWELL took the first decision winning 8-6 at #1 doubles but the remaining two doubles points went to the Scotties. It was close for both with KARINA RIVERA and DURDEN SMITH losing a tight 9-7 battle at #2 and TABEA SOELTER and SIMONA FLOYD losing 8-6 at #3. 

Floyd was in a battle in singles play as well dropping the first set 7-5 but coming back to even the score with a 6-3 win in the second set. In the deciding set, it went to 13-11 before Taylor Lee earned the win at #3 singles. 

KARINA RIVERA won once again at #5 singles as she posted her fifth straight singles victory winning 7-6, 6-4. Piedmont will be back in action on Tuesday with the men and women set to take on Covenant College and honor the two seniors on the squads prior to the start of the match. 

Turning Point
--The Lady Lions trailed 2-1 following doubles play with close losses 9-7 and 8-6 at #2 and #3, respectively. 

Standout Performances
--KARINA RIVERA continues her streak at #5 singles winning her fifth straight in singles play 7-6, 6-4. 

Inside the Box Score
--Piedmont is now 2-1 at home this season with two matches remaining on the home schedule. 

News & Notes
--The win marked the first conference win of the season for Agnes Scott.

The next contest for Piedmont comes at home on Tuesday, March 28 at 3:00 p.m. against Covenant College.
