Winston-Salem, N.C. - After the original conference opener was delayed due to wet weather in Maryville, the Piedmont College women's tennis team opened the USA South schedule Saturday with an 8-1 win over Salem on the road. 
Piedmont had a new combination at #1 doubles as 
MORGAN BUCHHOLZ and 
DURDEN SMITH won 8-2 as the Lady Lions picked up all three points in doubles play. The lone loss came at #2 singles as Piedmont has won just once at #2 singles this season. 
The Lady Lions move to 1-0 in conference play with the home opener coming Sunday as PC hosts LaGrange at noon.

KARINA RIVERA sealed the victory with the clinching match at #4 singles winning 6-0, 6-1.
