Maryville, TN - The Piedmont College women's tennis team upended the Scots of Marvyille College earlier Tuesday afternoon by a 6-3 score in a crucial USA South match.  

Piedmont earned wins at the top two doubles spots to own a 2-1 lead going into singles play where the top four decisions went the way of the Green and Gold to seal the road win for PC.

NICOLE PARRISH was clutch at #1 singles winning 7-5, 7-6 to earn the decision, her fifth singles win of the veteran's senior season.  For AMANDA BLACKWELL, the win at #3 singles was her first of the season as all eight of her wins this year had come at #4 singles prior to today.

Piedmont's remaining two singles wins came in straight sets as the Lady Lions improved to now 5-3 in USA South play this season, good enough for a two-way tie for 6th in the league standings.

--Four singles wins helped settle the score between these two conference rivals with Piedmont winning at the top four spots, all in straight sets.

Standout Performances
--NICOLE PARRISH came up big at #1 singles winning 7-5, 7-6 at the #1 spot for the Lady Lions to help swing momentum in favor of the road team.

--Piedmont took the contest despite being short-handed with the Lady Lions winning all but three decisions.

News & Notes
--The Lady Lions are now 5-2 in their last seven USA South matches with four still remaining on the 2016 schedule.

Another trip in conference as the Lady Lions head to Lookout Mountain, Georgia for a showdown with USA South foe Covenant College on April 2.  The match is slated for a 10:00 am start.
