Rocky Mount, NC - The Piedmont College women's tennis team saw its four-match winning streak in conference play come to an end Friday with an 8-1 loss at North Carolina Wesleyan College. 

The Battling Bishops, now 6-1 in USA South play, handed Piedmont just its second loss in conference play with the decision as PC had not lost in league action since a Feb. 27 loss to Meredith. 

For Piedmont, it was the doubles pairing of NICOLE PARRISH and AMANDA BLACKWELL that came up with the point winning at #2 doubles 8-3 over Methodist's Florencia Sorrentino and Ana Diaz.  

The loss drops Piedmont to 5-6 overall and 4-2 in USA South action.  After having faced the defending USA South champs in the Battling Bishops Friday, the Lady Lions will now head to the home of the runner-up in Methodist University for a Saturday showdown. 

Turning Point
--NC Wesleyan's sweep of singles action as Piedmont only trailed 2-1 coming out of doubles action.

Standout Performances
--The doubles pairing of NICOLE PARRISH and AMANDA BLACKWELL who won at #2 doubles for their fifth doubles win of the season.

Inside the Box Score
--NC Wesleyan took all six singles decisions in straight sets.

News & Notes
--The Battling Bishops are the defending USA South champions and the Lady Lions' next opponent is the runner-up from last year.

Up Next
Piedmont now heads to Fayetteville for a 10:00 am morning match on Saturday, March 26 against the Monarchs of Methodist University who finished as last season's conference tournament runner-up.
