Demorest, GA - The Piedmont College women's tennis team struggled earlier Wednesday afternoon in a non-conference match-up with Oglethorpe University falling 9-0 at home.  

The Stormy Petrels took all six singles decisions in straight set fashion after earning wins in the three doubles spots earlier in the match.  

Oglethorpe improved to 5-4 with the win over its in-state rival while Piedmont fell to 2-5 overall having dropped two straight contests. 

Piedmont will get back on the court this coming weekend with a pair of big matches in conference play first playing host to Ferrum on Saturday before Averett comes to town for a showdown on Sunday.

Turning Point
--The Stormy Petrels taking all three doubles match-ups set the tone in the 9-0 sweep for OU against Piedmont. 

Standout Performances
--NICOLE PARRISH and AMANDA BLACKWELL pushed the issue at #2 doubles before falling 8-6 to the pairing of Shannon Cruz and Halley Sickling.  

Inside the Box Score
--All six decisions in singles play were straight sets.

News & Notes
--The pairing of Parrish and Blackwell have lost by more than two games in doubles play only once this season, an 8-3 loss in a match with #12 Sewanee.

Up Next
A big weekend in conference play as the Lady Lions host Ferrum College on Saturday, March 19 with Averett coming to town the following day.  The match with Ferrum is set for a 12:00 pm start while Averett will be an 11:00 am first serve.
