Sewanee, TN - The Lady Lion tennis team could not get much going earlier Friday afternoon falling 9-0 to the nation's 12th ranked team in the Tigers of Sewanee.  

Piedmont faced an uphill battle from the start with Sewanee taking all three doubles decisions as the #11 doubles pairing in the country, Lindsey Liles and Clementina Davila of Sewanee, took down Piedmont pair MORGAN COWART and DURDEN SMITH.

From there, Sewanee continued to hold tight winning all six singles decisions taking each match in straight sets fashion.  The match is the spring opener for Piedmont who entered the match 0-1 with a loss from the fall.

Piedmont will face Transylvania tomorrow morning in the second of two matches this weekend at Sewanee.  

Turning Point
--The Tigers started out hot winning all three doubles decisions to take a 3-0 lead into singles action in Tenneessee including top doubles pairing Lindsey Liles and Clementina Davila, ranked 11th in the country.

Standout Performances
--NICOLE PARRISH and AMANDA BLACKWELL took three games at the #2 doubles pairing.

Inside the Box Score
--PC struggled in singles play against the highly ranked foe falling 6-0 in eight of the 12 sets.

News & Notes
--The loss is the 7th straight for PC against the Tigers of Sewanee who made it to the third round of the NCAA National Tournament last season.

Up Next
Piedmont stays on the road for a neutral site match against Transylvania at the home of the Sewanee Tigers.  First serve is set for 11:00 am.
