Montgomery, AL - The Piedmont College women's tennis team took two of the three doubles decisions to start today's match at Huntingdon College in USA South play as the Lady Lions went on to take a tight 5-4 decision on the road.  Piedmont picked up wins at #1, #3, and #5 doubles as senior Ashley Fannon picked up a victory to clinch a 5-4 decision for the second time in as many conference matches for PC doing so last Monday against Maryville as well.

Fannon teamed up with fellow senior Katie Sailors to get the win at #1 doubles winning 8-2 over the pair of Thibodeau and Hall from Huntingdon.  At the #2 spot, Nicole Parrish and Amanda Blackwell won their decision 8-2 as the Lady Lion doubles pairing is now 6-4 in 2014.

Winning in singles play was Sailors at the #1 spot as she took hers in two, 6-2, 6-3 while Parrish was a winner at #3 singles in a three set match, 3-6, 6-4, 6-2.  With four points in hand, it was the senior Fannon who got the decider as she won 6-1, 6-1 at the #5 singles spot to clinch a 5-4 win for PC on the road in conference play.

With the win, Piedmont moves to 10-6 overall and 7-3 in conference play as they force a tie at the #4 spot in the standings with the Hawks.  PC also becomes the fourth team in the 13-member USA South to have won at least 10 matches this season joining Methodist, Meredith, and Covenant, the top three teams in the USA South standings.

Piedmont will have a few days off from competition now before hosting Greensboro College on Friday afternoon at Burgen Tennis Courts.  The match is slated for a 2:00 pm start in Demorest.
