CLEMSON, South Carolina - The Piedmont College women's tennis team won a pair of USA South Conference matches this afternoon over Mary Baldwin College and Averett University by the scores of 9-0 and 5-2. Due to inclement weather the Lady Lions played host at Clemson University in South Carolina.
In the opener against Mary Baldwin the Lady Lions claimed the clean sweep while only dropping two points in doubles and three points in singles. At #2 and #3 doubles Piedmont took the decisions 8-0 respectively and won four of the six singles matches in shutout straight-set fashion.
In the second match against Averett University the Lady Lions took two points at #2 and #3 doubles and three points and #2, #3 and #4 singles.
Meghan Smith and
Erin Krause were able to post 6-0, 6-0 victories at #3 and #4 singles respectively.
The victories move the Lady Lions to 6-4 overall and 6-1 in the USA South Conference. Piedmont will return to the courts again on Wednesday, March 27 as they travel in non-conference and in-state rival Berry College starting at 3:00.
