Greg Neeley Appointed To Lead Piedmont College Men's Basketball

The Piedmont College Department of Athletics has announced that Greg Neeley will take over as Head Men's Basketball Coach.
DEMOREST, Georgia - Piedmont College athletic director John Dzik announced Wednesday that Greg Neeley has been selected as the new head coach of the men's basketball program.

Neeley, who will begin his duties March 26, is no stranger to Piedmont, having served as an assistant men's coach from 2007 to 2010; and he earned an MBA degree at the college in 2009.

Neeley comes to Piedmont from Warren Wilson College in Asheville, N.C., where this past season he led the Owls to their most successful record ever. Finishing on a 12-game winning streak, Warren Wilson qualified for the USCAA national tournament and stunned the field, winning the National Championship with four wins in as many days. Prior to that position, Neeley also built a winning program at Ancilla College in his home state of Indiana, taking the Chargers to the NJCAA District 8 tournament in his first year.

Greg Neeley is a perfect fit for Piedmont College,” Dzik said. “He brings proven successful head coaching experience to our situation. Moreover, his knowledge of Piedmont and his ability to successfully recruit student athletes of high academic and athletic ability are key ingredients to building a winning basketball program.”

“Piedmont College has always felt like home to me, and I am privileged to return and lead the men's basketball program.” Neeley said. “I want to thank President James Mellichamp, Dr. John Misner, and Coach Dzik for the opportunity to come home. I look forward to recruiting and working with student athletes who are a great fit for Piedmont and the basketball program.”

Piedmont College is an independent liberal arts college of about 2,600 students with campuses located in Demorest and Athens. Founded in 1897, the college offers undergraduate degrees in 44 major areas, master's degrees in education and business, and doctoral degrees in education.
