Kansas City, Missouri - The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) has announced the teams who qualified for its Team Academic Excellence Award for the 2025-26 season with Piedmont University making the listing once again.
This marks the 13th straight season the Lions have made the NABC listing and the first under new Head Coach
JC Cavin.
The NABC Team Academic Excellence Awards recognize men's basketball programs that completed the 2023-24 academic year with a team GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Over 400 programs received NABC Team Academic Excellence Awards for 2025-26, a number up from two years ago by more than 40 programs.
The NABC's academic awards are presented annually to teams and athletes from all levels of college basketball.
ABOUT THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF BASKETBALL COACHES (NABC)
Located in Kansas City, Missouri, the NABC was founded in 1927 by Phog Allen, the legendary basketball coach at the University of Kansas. Allen, a student of James Naismith, the inventor of basketball, organized coaches into this collective group to serve as Guardians of the Game. The NABC currently has nearly 5,000 members consisting primarily of university and college men's basketball coaches.
