Piedmont Wins Tough Road Battle With Arch-Rivals For Eighth GSAC Win

The Lady Lions' 5-4 win over Maryville College on the road Sunday afternoon gave them an 8-2 GSAC record and 10-8 mark overall. The women have won five of the last six matches.

Maryville, TN - In the final Great South Athletic Conference match of the regular season, the Lady Lions came up big with a slim 5-4 win at Maryville College to garner their eighth conference win and tenth overall on the season with one match remaining. The women have now won five of the last six.

It was sophomore Katie Sailors that clinched the win for the Lady Lions, coming up with a singles win in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3, marking her sixth win of the year. Piedmont is now 10-8 overall and 8-2 within conference play as it wraps up its 2012 campaign Tuesday when playing host to Emmanuel College at 4:00 pm. The GSAC Tournament is scheduled for April 20-22 at Maryville.
