Lady Lions Shut Out At Huntingdon, Evens GSAC Record

Meghan Smith fought hard for the Lady Lions in their 9-0 loss at Huntingdon College. The freshman fell 6-1, 6-1 in flight 2 singles, then teamed with junior Lauren Anderson for a tough 8-5 loss at #2 doubles.

Montgomery, AL - The Lady Lions fell hard at Huntingdon College, 9-0, evening their Great South Athletic Conference record to 1-1 early in the season.  The women were beat in straight sets all the way through, despite good performances and tough fights by the women.

At #1 singles, sophomore Katie Sailors started off strong, losing 6-3 in the first set before falling 6-0 in the second.  Freshman Morgan Reed did the exact same thing at flight four, before junior Lauren Anderson posted a hard-fought 6-2, 6-2 loss at #5 singles.  The doubles matches proved to be very well played by both sides, especially for Piedmont when freshman Meghan Smith and Anderson lost a 8-5 decision at #2 doubles.  The Lady Lions return to action tomorrow when facing GSAC foes LaGrange College at 1:00 pm.
