Demorest, GA -- The Piedmont College tennis teams were swept in a pair of matches earlier this afternoon as each went down to Great South Athletic Conference member Huntingdon College. The men's team dropped a tight 5-4 match to the Hawks while the women fell in shutout fashion 9-0 to the Lady Hawks as both teams from HC posted runner-up league finishes last season.

The Lady Lions dropped all three doubles decisions though the pair of Jennifer Granlund and Ashley Fannon took the Lady Hawks' #1 pair to a tight 8-6 decision.  After digging a 3-0 hole in doubles play, Piedmont would go on to drop all six singles matches in the shutout loss.

In the men's match, PC could not overcome another tough start in doubles action as the Lions dropped two of the three doubles points available on the way to a tight 5-4 loss.  Accounting for the Lions' lone doubles win was the #3 pair of Andrew Babb and Joel Silverberg who defeated the Hawks #3 doubles team decisively 8-1.

The Lions did take half of the singles points up for grabs, but the damage of two doubles losses decided the eventual Hawks win.  Singles winners for PC included Moses Das who claimed a come-from-behind 2-6, 6-4, 6-2 victory at the top spot for the Lions.

Das' victory moves his season record to 6-5 overall as well as 2-1 in GSAC play. Also grabbing singles points was Christopher Davidson and Jay Evans who took victories at #4 and #6 singles respectively.

With the losses, the Lions fall to an even 6-6 while the Lady Lions move to 3-7 on the season as both teams claim a 1-2 mark in conference play.  The squads will return to action when they face LaGrange College in a Sunday afternoon match on April 10 to end a two-game conference road trip.
