Scotties Hand Women's Tennis 9-0 Loss In GSAC Action

Amanda Christian and the Piedmont women's tennis team fell earlier today to defending GSAC champion Agnes Scott College as the Lady Lions moved to 1-1 in league play in 2011.

The Piedmont College women's tennis team fell earlier today in Great South Athletic Conference competition to the defending league champion Scotties of Agnes Scott College.  The Lady Lions could not take a point off the 2010 GSAC tournament champs as Piedmont fell to an even 1-1 in conference play on the season.

Two Lady Lions fell in straight sets to the hosting conference foe while newcomer Amanda Christian was handed her second loss at the #1 singles slot 6-0, 6-1.  Christian is now 1-2 at the top singles spot on the year and 3-6 overall with two victories coming at #3 singles.

Piedmont also dropped all three doubles matches with two pairs experiencing firsts on the season as Melody Mitchell and Lauren Hodges fell for the first time on the year as a doubles team.  Taking their first loss at the #2 doubles slot was the team of Lauren Anderson and Cydney Goodwin who move to an even 2-2 in doubles action in 2011. 

The loss puts the Lady Lions at 3-6 on the year and 1-1 in GSAC play.  The team will look to get back on track when they travel to Montgomery, AL for an afternoon match with conference foe Huntingdon College on Saturday, April 9.
