The Piedmont College women's tennis team grabbed a singles point off the Stormy Petrels but could not get past Oglethorpe as both the PC men's and women's tennis teams dropped a match-up with their cross-state opponents.
Atlanta, GA -- The Piedmont College tennis teams fell to Oglethorpe University earlier this afternoon as both squads fell in the in-state battles.  The men's tennis team was shutout 9-0 by the Stormy Petrels while the ladies fell 8-1 to hosting Oglethorpe.

In men's doubles action, GSAC Doubles Players of the Week Moses Das and Patrick Steck fought hard at the #1 doubles slot but eventually fell 8-4.  Both players dropped their individual matches as Oglethorpe swept the afternoon's six singles battles.

On the women's side, newcomer Melody Mitchell claimed the Lady Lions lone point of the match grabbing a victory at the #5 singles slot 6-1, 6-1.  For the Newton County graduate, the singles victory was her first in as many tries in her collegiate career.

The PC men's tennis team will get back on the court on Saturday, March 5 when the squad travels to defending GSAC champion Maryville Colege for a 1:00 afternoon match.  The women's tennis team returns to action at Burgen Tennis Courts as the Lady Lions host Southeastern University for a 3:00 match.
