Winston-Salem, NC -- The Piedmont College women's tennis team grabbed a conference win on the road at Great South Athletic Conference member Salem College by a 6-3 score. The Lady Lions took two doubles matches and four singles points to tally their second conference victory of 2010.
Jen Granlund and
Tyler Baldonado kicked off the match well for Piedmont taking their #1 doubles match in a dramatic tiebreak. Baldonado also grabbed a point at #2 singles along with teammate
Lisa Jennings who took a victory at #5 singles.
Freshman
Lauren Hodges and senior
Mandy Beasley took both a doubles point and a singles point each. The pair earned a victory at #3 doubles while also claiming points at #4 and #6 singles.
The win moves PC to 6-9 overall while improving the squad to 2-4 in conference play. The Lady Lions will return to the court when they travel to Maryville College for a GSAC showdown set to begin at 1:00.
