Maryville, TN -- The Piedmont College women's cross country team placed 5th of the seven competing teams at the Great South Athletic Conference championship meet held at Maryville College earlier today.

Though the Lady Lions did not come home with the conference crown, the team was not short of hardware as PC runner Molly Atkinson was honored as the GSAC Freshman of the Year.  Atkinson came in at 29:27 on the day, a time that was good enough to place her 11th individually. 

Fellow freshman Kristen Payne was right behind her Piedmont teammate putting in a time of 29:31 in the race.  Payne and Atkinson were both named members of the GSAC All-Freshman team for their performance in the conference meet.
