Rebounding from a tough home loss on Sunday, the Piedmont College men's basketball team went into Montgomery, AL tonight and came away with a 74-63 league victory over defending Great South Athletic Conference champion Huntingdon College. The defeat marks the first for HC in their last eight games versus conference opponents and evens the Lions up to 1-1 in conference action.
Holding a slim 35-32 margin to enter the half, PC stormed out of the gates with a 20-7 run in which they forced five turnovers. The Lions held a double-digit lead for the rest of the game including their biggest advantage of 22 points (65-43) with 8:00 remaining.
Leading the charge for Piedmont was Mike Adams who scored a game-high 30 points including an impressive 6-8 from behind the three-point line. Jake Baldwin added 16 points while Tyler Whitlock and Jake Green chipped in with a combined 15 points. Wesley Parker dished out a season-best six assists for Piedmont.
PC moves to 6-7 overall and an even 1-1 in the Great South Athletic Conference. The Lions will return to action again on Saturday, January 13th as they travel to South Region host Christopher Newport University in Newport News, VA with tip off slated for 7:00.
