The Piedmont College men's basketball team opened its 2005-06 season this afternoon with a 67-64 loss to Greensboro College in the first round of the 3rd Annual GSAC/USA-South Tip-Off Classic at Huntingdon College in Montgomery, AL. The Lions went ice cold over the game's final four minutes as GC erased a 14-point Piedmont second-half advantage to earn the victory.

After jumping out to a 37-33 halftime lead, Piedmont used an 18-2 run to stretch its advantage to 59-45 with 10:12 remaining. Greensboro chipped away to take their final lead with just 0:53 remaining as Piedmont went scoreless over the game's final 3:39.

Piedmont's Jake Baldwin and Mike Adams led the offensive charge for the Lions with 21 and 20 points respectively.

Piedmont (0-1) will now face Ferrum College tomorrow afternoon in the tournament finale with tip-off set for 3:00 CST.
