ATLANTA - Piedmont softball sophomore
Valerie Bailey has been named the Collegiate Conference of the South Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
Bailey played a major role in Piedmont's 3-1 week in conference play, going 5-for-11 (.455 avg.) at the plate and leading the team with four RBI.
She recorded hits in three of four contests, and delivered a pair of multi-hit performances against LaGrange.
Bailey also produced in key moments, driving in a pair of runs in Piedmont's 6-3 comeback win over Maryville in game two of a Friday afternoon doubleheaader sweep.
Bailey's honor marks the third different Lion to earn CCS Player of the Week honors this season, joining Ansee Saunchegraw and
Mandi Peretti.
Up next, Bailey and the Lions will host Johnson & Wales (NC) in a non-conference doubleheader this Wednesday, April 8 at 1 and 3 p.m.
