Louisville, Ky. - The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) has released its 2026 All-Region Teams with Piedmont University's Anslee Saunchegraw and Maddi Spieks both earning spots on the Region VI listing. 

Saunchegraw, who was named to the NFCA Player of the Year Watchlist in late April, earned a 1st team selection while teammate Spieks took home 2nd team honors in this, her junior season.  

The pair of middle infielders for long-time Head Coach Terry Martin were stout defensively combining for a .938 fielding percentage while turning a total of 16 double plays on the year.  

Both Lions hit over .400 on the season with Saunchegraw leading the way with her .476 clip as she posted a team-high 39 RBI's and belting all ten of Piedmont's home runs on the season.  

For Spieks, her .416 batting average included 13 extra-base hits as she was one of two Lions to tally more than 40 runs scored on the season with the other being Saunchegraw.  

Spieks and Saunchegraw were both terrors on the basepaths for Coach Martin in '26 as the two combined to steal more than 30 bases with Spieks going a perfect 13-for-13 on the season.  

The All-Region honor is the first for either of the two as Spieks and Sanchegraw now represent the top 1% of student-athletes competing according to the NFCA full release. 

The awards honor student-athletes from the Association's 10 regions with selection to one of three teams. NFCA member head coaches nominate and then vote for the winners in their respective region. All honorees move forward to be considered for selection for the three NFCA Division III All-America squads, which will be announced at the end of May online and on-site at the NCAA Division III Finals banquet.
