Louisville, KY - Piedmont University saw one of its softball players named to the NFCA Division III All-American team with
Anslee Saunchegraw making the 3rd team for Head Coach
Terry Martin.
Making the list as just a freshman, Saunchegraw was one of 55 student-athletes recognized from 40 different insitutitons on the 2026 NFCA Division III All-American team with Region VI representing with the most selections, the region where Piedmont competes.
The award caps an incredible season for the youngster from Covington, Georgia who hit nearly .500 on the season leading the team with her .476 clip. She also led the squad with 39 RBI's and was accountable for all 10 of Piedmont's home runs this season.
Saunchegraw clearly developed in her first season with Head Coach
Terry Martin whose knack for producing runs on the paths has been legendary around the Southeast Region for years. Under his leadership, Saunchegraw attempted 22 steals and was 20-of-22 on the basepaths to add an element to her game.
Slugging a whopping .849, Saunchegraw was the leader in nearly offensive category for Piedmont this season getting on base at a .545 rate to lead all Lions in both of those columns as well. The youngster competed well amongst Division III as well posting a top-30 batting average for most of the season while also finishing 16th in slugging.
The NFCA All-America teams are voted on by the Association's All-America Committees. In Division III, the committee is comprised of one member head coach from each of the NCAA's 10 regions. All student-athletes who were nominated by a member head coach and voted to the first, second, or third team All-Region squads were eligible for All-America consideration.
