ATLANTA - Piedmont men's golf junior Doug Gugel has been named the Collegiate Conference of the South Golfer of the Week, the league announced Wednesday afternoon.

The junior from Winter Springs, Florida put together an outstanding second and final round performances, firing back-to-back par-or-better rounds to climb into the top 10 on the individual leaderboard.

 


After opening with a 6-over 77 at the Sam Snead Collegiate in Williamsburg, Virginia, Gugel fought back with an even par second round of 71, before going even lower in the final round, posting a 1-under 70.


 


This marks Gugel's second CCS Golfer of the Week of the academic year, having won it once already in the fall.

Up next, Gugel and the Lions will tee it up at the CCS Conferennce Tournament in Dalton, Georgia on Monday, April 27, looking for a three-peat.
