ATLANTA - Piedmont men's tennis junior
Rohan Kavali has been named the Collegiate Conference of the South Player of the Week, announced Tuesday afternoon.
It was quite the week for the Hyderabad, India native, who won the clinching match in a pair of thrilling home wins for the Lions.
Kavali produced a 3-0 overall singles record and went 2-1 in doubles in a 3-0 week for Piedmont.
Kavali's week began with a grueling third-set match tiebreak win at No. 4 against Berry, winning 5-7, 6-4, 1-0 (12). With the overall match score tied at 3-3, Kavali's win ended the festivities and gave Piedmont a second consecutive home win against Berry.
Then, after dispatching his opponent at No. 2 singles against Belhaven (6-1, 6-4), Kavali met the moment once again in Saturday's home win over Covenant, this time playing out a full third set to win 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 at No. 4 to provide the clinching point in an eventual 4-3 win.
This marks Kavali's first career CCS Player of the Week nod after earning CCS Rookie of the Week honors three times during the spring of 2024.
Up next, Kavali and the Lions will have over a week off before returning to the courts on Tuesday, April 7 to host LaGrange at 10:30 a.m.
