JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. - The No. 14 Piedmont Men's Golf team banked another top 10 finish against some of Division III's best as the Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational concluded Sunday afternoon at the Pine Lakes course.
For the third consecutive round, the Lions fired an under par team score, coming in at 3-under for the day, thanks to three par-or-better rounds and a 1-over 73 as the four counting scores.
Doug Gugel continued his climb up the leaderboard, moving up 24 more spots on Sunday after a 3-under 69, his second consecutive round in the 60's to close out the tournament. Gugel totaled six birdies for the day and closed in strong fashion, making birdie on the par-3 17th and the par-5 18th to move into the top 35 and help the Lions secure the top 10.

Freshman
Bradley Knowles was the biggest mover for the Lions, jumping 33 spots after a 1-under par 71 that included a team-high seven birdies.

Bouncing back from Saturday, fellow freshman
Braden Kiley fired his second par-or-better round of the tournament with a final round even par 72. Kiley made birdie on both of the par 3's on the front nine.
After tying the school record in the second round with a 6-under 66,
Adam Rogers delivered the team's final counting score, a 1-over 73 to finish in a tie for 11th against a loaded field.
Overall, all five Lions had at least one par-or-better round in the event.
Up next, as the Lions enter the back half of their spring season, they will take on the Capital City Classic in Prattville, Alabama, set to begin Monday, April 6.
