HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fl. - Piedmont men's golf sits tied in 24th after day one competition at the NCAA Division III Tournament in Florida.

Jacob DeJesus put together a solid round on the first day on the course. The junior rode even through the first two holes before taking a stroke off with a birdie on hole five. DeJesus continued shooting well throughout the day, ending his round sitting just one over par.

Despite a slow start, Gugel put together a strong back nine to give himself momentum going into day two. Gugel finished the front nine after posting two bogeys but lit up the scorecard on the back half with three birdies dotting the card. Gugel launched himself to be tied with teammate DeJesus with his performance, setting up his day two sitting at just one over.

Adam Rogers also strengthened his standings with a good back nine with a pair of birdies, finishing the day at +3.

Remo Scholl finished +4 on the day, finding a birdie on the front nine on a tough course.

Braden Kiley will look for a strong day two as the reigning CCS Rookie of the Year finished with an underwhelming day one.

After finishing the day at +9 as a team, the Lions look for a strong day two in the tournament.
