JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. - The No. 14 Piedmont Men's Golf team raced up the leaderboard on Saturday thanks to a trio of under par rounds in the second round of the Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational.
The Lions fired a spring best 9-under team score to move up three spots into a tie for sixth on the team leaderboard.
Senior
Adam Rogers led the way, blitzing the course and tying a school record with a 6-under 66. The senior from Vero Beach, Florida was rock solid all day, not making a single bogey to go with four birdies and an eagle. Beginning his day on hole 10, Rogers ended his front nine with an exclamation mark, making an eagle on the par-5 18th. He was also steady coming home, making birdie on two of his last three holes to move to -8 for the tournament and into a tie for sixth on the leaderboard.
Doug Gugel gave the Lions two rounds in the 60's, as the junior fired his best round of the spring and third round in the 60's of the 2025-26 season. Gugel started hs round on fire, making five birdies on his opening nine, including a stretch of four in a row early in his round. He led the Lions with seven on the day.
Fellow junior
Jacob DeJesus was right on Gugel's heels, with six birdies on the day and a 2-under 70 for his round, giving the Lions a critical third round at least multiple shots under par. DeJesus was consistent across the board, shooting a 1-under 35 on each nine to post his round of 70.
Piedmont's final counting score came from freshman
Braden Kiley, who fired a 3-over 75 while fellow freshman
Bradley Knowles carded a non-counting 7-over 79.
Up next, the Lions will look to climb into the top five with the final round set for tomorrow, March 22.

STANDOUT PERFORMANCES:
- The Lions put a lot of red on the board, making 24 birdies as a team in Friday's first round.
- Kiley delivered his fourth under par round of the spring, making seven birdies in a 2-under 70.
- Knowles played his final 18 holes in 2-under par to help the Lions post an under par team score.
- Rogers' opening round of 2-under 70 marks his fifth par-or-better round of the spring.
