Baseball Joseph Garwood: Director of Athletic Communications

Justin Scali Elevated to Assistant Athletic Director

DEMOREST, Ga. - Piedmont University has announced the promotion of longtime baseball coach Justin Scali to the role of Assistant Athletic Director, where he will take on expanded responsibilities in facilities and event management while continuing to lead the Piedmont baseball program.

In his new position, Scali will oversee the reorganization of athletic office spaces and manage the scheduling of gameday administrators for Piedmont's home athletic events. He will also continue to support departmental initiatives, building on his past contributions in development and fundraising, including his service as President of the P Club.

"Justin has been a trusted leader in our department for nearly two decades, and this new role is a natural step forward for him," said Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Jamie Purdy "His experience as a head coach, combined with his administrative insight and commitment to Piedmont, will allow us to continue enhancing the student-athlete experience both on and off the field."

Scali, who enters his 10th season as Head Baseball Coach in 2025, has guided the Lions to consistent success on the diamond, highlighted by conference championships, NCAA Tournament appearances, and the development of numerous All-Americans. While his new role will shift more focus toward administration, he remains committed to the baseball program.

"I am grateful for the opportunity to serve Piedmont in this expanded capacity," said Scali. "This university has been home to me for most of my professional career, and I look forward to working with our staff to strengthen our facilities, streamline our gameday operations and continue supporting our student-athletes at the highest level."

A 2002 graduate of Methodist University with a degree in Sports Management, Scali earned his MBA from Piedmont in 2005. He has been a member of the Piedmont athletic department since 2005 and has played a key role in the growth of the Lions' athletic programs both as a coach and administrator.
