DEMOREST, Ga. – The Piedmont University baseball team has received the 2024-25 Team Academic Excellence Award from the ABCA (American Baseball Coaches Association), the organization announced this week.
The honor is earned by teams with GPA's of 3.0 or better in the current academic year and this is the 10th straight season the Lions have received the award.
Overall, Piedmont was one of two CCS schools to earn the award joining Asbury.
This year, more than 440 college programs and 300 high school programs were recognized for their outstanding academic achievement.
The American Baseball Coaches Association has a long tradition of recognizing the achievements of baseball coaches and student-athletes. The ABCA/Rawlings All-America Teams are the nation's oldest, founded in 1949, and the ABCA's awards program also includes the ABCA/Rawlings All-Region Awards, the ABCA/ATEC Regional & National Coaches of the Year and several other major awards such as the ABCA Hall of Fame and the Dave Keilitz Ethics in Coaching Award.
