Entering the day ahead of Huntingdon by two strokes, the Lions bested the Hawks by seven in Tuesday's second round, extending the lead to nine shots going into the final round on Wednesday.
Doug Gugel continued to show success at Dalton Golf & Country Club, firing a 1-under par round of 71 on Tuesday to help the Lions increase their lead. After turning in 2-over 38, he caught fire on the back nine, making three birdies in a four-hole span on 10, 11 and 13 before making five consecutive pars to close out his round.
He is currently third on the individual leaderboard, four strokes behind Covenant's Drew Silman for the top spot.
