ATLANTA - Piedmont women's track and field was well represented as the Collegiate Conference of the South released its first weekly awards of the season Tuesday afternoon.

KK Thomas earned Field Athlete of the Week honors while Sara Bjerke was named Field Rookie of the Week.

Thomas set a new personal best in the hammer throw at the Myrtle Beach Collegiate Challenge, placing seventh with a mark of 43.47 meters. She also competed in the shot put, finishing 35th with a throw of 9.32 meters.

 

Sara Bjerke, Field Rookie of the Week

Bjerke competed in both the high jump and long jump at the Myrtle Beach Collegiate Challenge. She cleared 1.40 meters in the high jump to place 13th in the Open B category (34th overall) and recorded a mark of 4.43 meters in the long jump.

 


Up next, the Lions will be in action at the Emory Spring Break Classic, this Friday and Saturday in Atlanta.
