Season Preview: Indoor Track & Field

DEMOREST, Ga. - The Piedmont men's and women's track and field programs are set to begin the 2026 indoor season this weekend, taking on the KMS Invitational in Birmingham, Alabama on Sunday, January 18.

  • The Lions are scheduled to compete in seven different meets across five different states in the 2026 Indoor Season, with the NCAA Championship set to be held in Birmingham, Alabama starting on March 13th. 
  • After the opening the season in Alabama, Piedmont will find their way to Danville, Kentucky, Salem, Virginia, Tryon, North Carolina and Columbia, South Carolina.

  • The men's roster sports 29 athletes while bringing 11 newcomers into the fold.
  • Senior Silas Goolsby returns after a great 2025 season topped off with winning Track Athlete of the Meet at the CCS Championship Meet.
  • George Ketch and Jayden Smith will return on the throwing side for their second seasons after breaking school records in their first season.
  • The Lions earned 23 All-Conference Awards for their efforts in the 2025 season.
  • The women's side touts a roster of 23 with five newcomers.
  • The Lions captured 10 All-Conference honors for their performance at the conference meet.
  • Returning on the throwing side is KK Thomas. She posted a great season including a 13.67 throw that sits third all-time in program history.
  • Michelle Cates returns for her senior season after great showing last season as she looks to lead on the sprinting side.
