Season Recap: Women's Track & Field

  • Piedmont’s women’s track and field program posted another strong season, placing second at the CCS Championship meet.
  • The Lions set two new school records, with both coming during the outdoor season.
    • Senior Nakiyah Washington broke her own school record in the shot put twice during the 2024 season while senior Cortney Brown made history by becoming the first woman to compete in the Heptatholon for Piedmont.
  • Highlighted by Washington earning Women's Overall and Field Athlete of the Meet, Piedmont took home five wins and saw 18 podium finishes at the conference meet.
  • Nakiyah Washington was named USTFCCCA Outdoor All-Region for her throws work in 2024.

  • Piedmont competed six times during the indoor season, concluding at the USC Open.
  • Senior Nakiyah Washington broke her shot put record for the first time at the Joe LaRocco Inviational.
  • Multiple athletes had break out performances as the program prepared for the outdoor season.

Cortney Brown 2024 CCS Championship
  • The Lions competed at nine different meets during the outdoor season, prior to the conference championship.
  • Piedmont had an extremely successful outdoor season, taking home 12 weekly awards.
    • Senior Nakiyah Washington earned CCS Field Athlete of the Week four times over the course of the season while senior Cortney Brown earned the honor three times.
  • At the CCS Championship, Piedmont's Nakiyah Washington earned CCS Overall and Field Athlete of the Meet for her individual performance.
    • Washington claimed the javelin and shot put titles while placing third in the hammer and discus.
  • Allie Feltus reigned supreme in discus while Michelle Cates claimed the title in the 400m hurdles.
  • A total of 14 Lions eared All-Conference honors as either individuals or as relay team members.
