PINEHURST, N.C. - Piedmont men's golf finished up play with the final round of the Tiger Invitational on Monday morning and afternoon in Pinehurst, North Carolina.
For the second consecutive day, junior
Adam Rogers paced the Lions, firing a 1-over 73 to finish in a tie for 21st on the individual leaderboard. Starting on hole 11, Rogers made three birdies overall, including his last hole of the day, the par-5 10th.
As a team, the Lions delivered four counting scores in the 70's for the second consecutive round but fell back to 14th out of 20 teams on the team leaderboard.
Much like Rogers,
Connor Lane was nothing if not consistent, firing a second straight round of 3-over 75. Lane made just one birdie on the day but nothing worse than bogey on his card.
Caleb Vancil made the biggest improvement for Piedmont, moving up 16 spots on the leaderboard after a 3-over 75 that included two birdies, with both coming on par-5's.
Jacob DeJesus was the final counting score for the Lions and the last round in the 70's, firing a second consecutive 6-over 78.
Doug Gugel dropped back with a final round of 10-over 82, not counting toward Piedmont's team score.
Methodist took home the team trophy at 9-under par, 11 strokes clear of second place. The Monarchs' Chase Walts broke away from the pack to take the individual trophy at 10-under par, five clear of second.
Up next, the Lions will have over a week break before teeing it up next Friday, March 21 at the Jekyll Island Invitational.
