DEMOREST, Ga. – The Piedmont University cross country programs will head south to Huntsville, Alabama to take part in the fourth annual CCS Cross Country Championships, set to take place on Friday, October 31.
 
The Lions have brought home trophies in each of the past three seasons of the CCS, with the women's side claiming the title in 2022 before the men's side crossed the line first at home in 2023.

Last season, Piedmont had the individual winner on both sides, with Walker Capelle claiming the men's title and Skyler Seeber crossing the line first for the women.

2024 CCS CHAMPIONSHIP IN REVIEW:
 
Men: 

The Piedmont men's cross country team fought their hardest, having a second-place finish, with senior Walker Capelle placing first and also claiming CCS Runner of the Year honors. Senior Layton Bradford had a solid finish right behind Capelle, claiming second with a time of 26:32.1. Senior Tucker Cox raced to the finish coming in 8th out of the top 10 with a time of 28:11.6.

Women:

The Piedmont women's cross country team placed third out of seven programs at the 2024 CCS Championship following junior Skyler Seeber's first place performance with a time of 23:36.5. Bella Caccamo also cracked the Top 15 with a 26:01.8.

Caccamo was the only other Lady Lion to place in the Top 15 but just outside the Top 15 in 20th was Tanea Davis and in 24th Hannah Marlowe. Coming off PR performances in the prior meet, Davis crossed in 26:25.4 and Marlowe in 26:49.8.
 
PRESEASON POLLS:

The men's team was picked to place third in the CCS Preseason Coaches' Poll while the women are also the third overall pick.

LAST TIME OUT: ROANOKE INVITATIONAL

The Lions are coming off an impressive performance las time out at the Roanoke Invitational. Senior Layton Bradford continued his outstanding campaign, hitting a PR time of 25:43.4. 
On the women's side, Senior Bella Caccamo had an outstanding performance taking home another PR with a time of 25:06.
