HUNTSVILLE, Ala. -
Layton Bradford led the Lions with an exceptional race being the second ever Piedmont Men's Cross Country Individual Champion in the CCS.
He was able to hold off his closest competitor, finishing 18 seconds ahead of Covenant's Ethan Saiki. Even though he did not come home with a PR, Bradford came home with 1st place and the CCS Runner of the Year award, giving the Lions back-to-back champions with
Walker Capelle claiming the title in 2024.
As a team, the Lions took fourth place for this season, with Covenant winning the team title followed by Maryville in second place and Asbury in third place. This was
Gary Halverson's first season with the Lions as a coach and the team held their own and had an impressive year.
Sophomore
Brody Geckler ran an excellent race finishing 17th with a time of 28:24.2. Geckler also took home the CCS All-Sportsmanship award. Junior
Keegan Ivey was the third lion to cross the line coming in 45th with a time of 32:41.65.
Sophomore
Xander Wiley brought home another PR crossing the line at 33:24.27, placing 50th. Rounding out the finishers for the lions right behind Wiley was
Sammy Maddox. He came home with a season best time of 33:57.56 placing 52nd.
