ASHEVILLE N.C. - Piedmont impressed on the road with a close win against Southern Va. University and a pair of dominant wins, over Greensboro and Warren Wilson.
The Lions brought home eight overall wins with
Kelly Mashburn leading the way winning three individual events and the Lions bringing home an important win in the 400 yard relay.
Mashburn continued her great work on the young season with wins in the 1000 free, 200 free, and 500 free. Mashburn set the tone early on for the women's team, finishing with a time of 11:46.4 in the 1000 free, which, as the third event, put the Lions up early on.
Another big winner for the Lions was
Maggie O'Brien's day, as she brought home two wins in the 100 and 200 breast. O'Brien's win in the 200 breast sits apart, as she narrowly beat the SVU swimmer by a .28-second margin.
The meet was to be decided in the final event of the day, the 400-yard relay, as both Piedmont and SVU were vying for the win.The team of
Kelly Mashburn,
Maggie Robinson,
Sydney Addison, and
Zoi Walker came together and pushed the Lions over the line and secured the win for Piedmont with a final time of 3:55.21.
With another win under their belt the Lions will get back in action Nov. 1st in Columbia, S.C. against Columbia College at 12:00 p.m.
