SANDESTIN, Fla.. - Piedmont men's golf soared up the leaderboard thanks to a strong second round performance at the Golfweek October Classic in Sandestin, Florida Monday.
Two Lions delivered par-or-better rounds while the Lions were able to count a pair of 2-over 73's behind that for a consistent across the board performance.
The solid play up and down the lineup led Piedmont to jump five spots up the leaderboard, sitting in a tie for 13th with 18 holes remaining. The Lions were the second-biggest forward mover of the day, with only Rose-Hulman gaining more traction.
As usual, the senior
Adam Rogers was steady, carding an even par round of 71. He played a brilliantly boring round of golf, making 14 pars to go with two birdies and two bogeys on his card to move into the top 15 on the individual leaderboard, leading the team.

Junior
Jacob DeJesus improved upon his first round score by seven shots, making three birdies and an eagle on his round.

However, he did not make the biggest improvement on the team.
Doug Gugel bounced back from a struggle in the first round Sunday to card a 2-over 73 and help the Lions move up the board.
Remo Scholl also improved significantly upon his opening round, joining Gugel with a 2-over 73 as the Lions delivered a 4-over 288 team score on Monday, 15 strokes better than Sunday.
Finally, the team's leader on Sunday,
Braden Kiley, led the team with four birdies on his round, but a few tough holes led to a non-counting 5-over 76.
Up next, the Lions are back in action tomorrow morning, looking to make a run into the top 10 as the final round will conclude Tuesday afternoon.
