SANDESTIN, Fla.. - Piedmont men's golf saw freshman
Braden Kiley and senior
Adam Rogers lead the way in Sunday's opening round at the Golfweek October Classic in Sandestin, Florida.
The freshman Kiley produced the best round of the day for the Lions, coming in with a 1-over 72 that included 14 pars and two birdies, with just a single bogey and double bogey.
The solid start for Killey has him in the top 15 of the individual leaderboard with 36 holes remaining.
Continuing his trend of getting off to good starts, Rogers was right behind Kiley, producing a 2-over 73 with a team-high four birdies on his round.
Elsewhere,
Jacob DeJesus fired a 7-over 78 while the last counting score came from
Remo Scholl, who delivered a 9-over 80.
Finally,
Doug Gugel delivered a non-counting 85, but with plenty of time to turn things around.
As a team, the Lions carded an 19-over 303 and are 18 strokes behind Southwestern, which leads at 1-over.
Up next, the Lions will tee off on hole 10 for Monday morning's second round, beginning at 8:25 a.m.
