LEXINGTON, Ky. - Piedmont men's golf sophomore
Jacob DeJesus fired a final round 5-under 67 as play concluded at the Transylvania Fall Invite on Sunday afternoon.
After battling multiple weather delays in a stop-and-start day on Saturday, the Lions completed their final few holes of the first round before rolling into the final round on Sunday.
Piedmont finished the first round 8-over as a team but battled back in the final round with an even par team score, highlighted by DeJesus' career best round of 67.
While he opened with a first round 4-over 76, DeJesus caught fire in the final round, racing up the leaderboard to secure a T-12th-place finish out of 96 golfers. His round marked his first in the 60's as a Lion.
DeJesus made an incredible eight birdies in his final round, leading the team.
Senior
Kayden White delivered a rock solid performance, closing out an even par first round in the morning before another solid 2-over 74 in the afternoon to bring in a top-25 finish.
Doug Gugel began his sophomore campaign with a top-30 finish after rounds of 2-over 74 and 1-over 73.

Adam Rogers was just one stroke behind Gugel in each round, finishing the event at +5.
Newcomer
Drew Anness fired rounds of 75 and 77 in his Piedmont debut.
Mary Hardin-Baylor and host Transylvania tied atop the team leaderboard at 6-under while Transylvania's Tom Buchert won the individual crown at 6-under as well, thanks to a final round 4-under 68.
The Lions will tee it up next, starting Saturday, September 7 at the SAA Fall Preview in Dickson, Tennessee.

STANDOUT PERFORMANCES:
- DeJesus' round of 67 on Sunday marked his career best by six shots.
- It also gave him his first career collegiate round at par-or-better and his first in the 60's and was just one off the Piedmont record for low individual round.
- White's opening round of even par 72 is his best for the Lions and his first at par or better.
