FARMVILLE, Va. - The Piedmont men's golf B Team was in action with the first round The Manor Invite in Farmville, Virginia.

The Lions sit in third place out of eight as a team after a 303 (+15) in the first round Saturday.

Piedmont was led by a couple of newcomers on Saturday, with Jacob DeJesus pacing the team with a 1-over 73. DeJesus made four birdies on his round and closed strong.

Fellow rookie Aaron Martin Del Campo was right on the heels of DeJesus with a 2-over 74. Del Campo played holes 16 through 18 in 4-under par as he made eagle on the par-4 16th and followed it with birdies on 17 and 18.

Methodist's B Team leads the event with a 4-under round while Longwood's Matthew Lyons leads the individual competition at 4-under as well.

COACH'S CORNER (Hear from Dustin Meadows on today's round):

"I can't say enough about the rounds Jacob and Aaron put up today. Both got off to bad starts and then found momentum in the middle of the round and carried us. They were all grit."

"303, was I believe the worst we could shoot. The back end of the lineup has to trust themselves. Playing good or bad you're going to find adversity out here. Mentally you have to continue to trust yourself. I look forward to see what happens tomorrow. I think they will be a bit more relaxed and we will put up a solid number."
