Season Recap: Volleyball 2024

• The Lions finished 2024 with a 6-19 record, with all six wins coming in conference play within the CCS.
• Piedmont honored three seniors this season as Jessica Sconyers, Bryn White and Vanessa Manzo completed their careers with the Lions. 
• Junior Katie Hubbard was named to the All-CCS second team following another impressive season from the Aurora, Colorado native. 
• Piedmont had a coaching change mid-season as Sav Roys and David Provine stepped in as interim coaches for the second half of the season. 
• The Lions earned the six seed in the CCS tournament falling to Covenant on the road to conclude the season. 

• Piedmont volleyball rebounded from a 3-0 loss to Covenant to start the day with a thrilling fourth-set comeback to overtake LaGrange 3-1 in the home CCS opener.
• Katie Hubbard led the Lions with a team-high 14 kills against the Panthers. 
• The first set saw the Lions reel off a 5-0 run, trailing 19-18, highlighted by a pair of service aces from freshman Mary Brit Tallevast. Although LaGrange answered with two points of their own, it was too late as Piedmont finished off the set 25-21.
• The second set was back-and-forth throughout until Piedmont stunned the Panthers with a 5-0 run to take the set 25-20. Bryn White delivered a pair of kills in the scoring run to lift the Lions over the top.
• While LaGrange responded with a dominant start to the third set, Piedmont rallied to make it close before falling 25-22.
• Piedmont fell behind early in the fourth set but were undeterred. Despite trailing 20-13, Piedmont won six straight points to cut the deficit to 20-19. Although the Panthers won two straight in response to make it 22-19, the Lions fought back again, winning four in a row to close out the match in four sets.

• With a win at home over Agnes Scott, the Lions moved to 3-3 in league play as winners of three of the last four outings. 
• Piedmont was hot out of the gate and got off to a 17-5 lead in the opening set. The Lions were able to take that set 25-10 in a decisive victory, but the Scotties were challenging in the second set. 
• The two teams were tied at 16 before the Lions pulled away for a 25-20 win. In the third set, a 12-1 run for the Lions put the set out of reach as Piedmont sealed the sweep with a 25-16 win.
• Both Jessica Sconyers and Katie Hubbard added eight kills for Piedmont as the Lions posted a .255 attack percentage.

• On a night in which Piedmont honored seniors Bryn White, Jessica Sconyers and Vanessa Manzo prior to the match, all three contributed heavily to the win.
• The Lions took the first and fourth sets in dominant fashion and bounced back after the Wolves appeared to take the momentum with a strong second set.
• White tied her career-high with with seven kills while Sconyers added 12 kills with a .355 hitting percentage and Manzo paced the team with 42 assists.
• Junior Katie Hubbard tied her career best with 16 kills and a .344 hitting percentage, matching the career high she set last time out against Maryville.
• After dropping the second set and then falling behind in the third set 8-2, Piedmont roared back with a 13-3 run to take a commanding 15-11 lead in the set, which they never relinquished.
