Playing until darkness fell, the Lions were able to complete close to 36 holes on a warm day.

Piedmont struggled to a slow start before closing strong in the first round. Unfortunately, they were unable to keep the momentum rolling through the bulk of the second round and sit in 13th place out of 20 teams.

The first round saw the Lions fire a 300 team score (+16) and they are currently +19 in the closing stretch of their second rounds.

Senior Connor Lane paced the team in Round One, firing a 2-over par 73. Starting on hole 3 in the shotgun start format, Lane bogeyed three of his first five holes, but rebounded with three birdies over his next six. Then, after three bogeys in a row late in his round, he went 1-under on his final three of the round to finish with a 73.

Sophomore Doug Gugel played the steadiest opening round, with 12 pars in a row to close out a 3-over 74.

Cam Lucas made a team-high six birdies in an opening round of 5-over 76 while Adam Rogers fought back from a triple bogey to deliver the final counting score with a 77.

Rogers and Jacob DeJesus were the only two Lions to finish their second round with Rogers carding an 81 and DeJesus with an 82.
