DEMOREST, Ga. - The Piedmont University softball team split the Thursday afternoon doubleheader against Emmanuel College, dropping Game 1 but taking Game 2.

The Lady Lions were held scoreless in the first contest and only had four hits in the game. However, the offense came to life in Game 2 and allowed the team to split on the day.

Game 1 - Piedmont 0, Emmanuel 2

Emmanuel struck early in the contest, tagging Lady Lions starter EMMA MCBRAYER for two early runs in the bottom of the first. After allowing a leadoff single, McBrayer retired the next two batters. However, a two out double and a walk set up Emmanuel for another two out hit to make the score 2-0.

Piedmont had an opportunity to get back in the contest in the top half of the 3rd following a leadoff single from HEARTLY NEPVEUX and KAITLIN ISLEY reaching on a hit by pitch. Piedmont left both stranded as a fielders choice, followed by a strikeout ended the inning. 

The Lady Lions last two hits came in the top of the 4th as Lynzdi Partlow singled with one down but was caught stealing shortly after. NATALIE HANSON tried to get something going with a two out single but a strikeout from the next batter ended the inning.
