BOULDER CITY, Nev. - The Piedmont men's golf team fired a second consecutive round of 308 in Round Two of the NCAA DIII Preview on Monday afternoon at Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder City, Nevada.
With conditions more favorable for scoring than Sunday's opening round, sophomore
Adam Rogers took advantage, carding the team's best score with a 1-over 73. Rogers was solid all day, making just one birdie but adding 15 pars to go with two bogeys.
Rogers made par on his first seven holes of the day and came in with pars on his final five after making his lone birdie of the day on the par-5 13th.
Another underclassman showed up in support of Rogers as
Tom Yao posted a 4-over 76, also making his lone birdie on the 13th. The Fiji native opened strong, with five straight pars.
Senior
Eric Penland started his round with eight consecutive pars before a pair of double bogeys down the stretch led to a 7-over 79.
Cam Lucas made a team-high four birdies on his round. However, three double bogeys led to an 8-over 80 as Piedmont's final counting score.
Josh Hebrink birdied his first two holes of the day but carded a non-counting 81.
As a team, the Lions slipped to 14th place on the team leaderboard as Methodist surged to the top at 8-over for the event.
Up next, the event will conclude with the final 18 holes beginning tomorrow at 11 a.m. (ET) with a shotgun start.
