BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - In the first event of the year, the Piedmont women's swim team dominated Union College by a final team score of 162-15.

Freshman MAGGIE BISHOP got the day started in the 500 yard freestyle, finishing first with a time of 6:22.93. 

In the 50 yard butterfly, Freshman CAROLINE MASSARO picked up the win with an impressive 30.49. She would continue her winning ways later in the day, picking up the win in the 100 yard backstroke (1.07.10) and the 50 yard backstroke (30.76).

The next event, the 200 yard freestyle, went to Junior LAUREN STONE who turned in a first place time of 2:17.20. She also picked up the win later in the day for the 100 yard freestyle, swimming a 1:05.48.

Picking up her first win of the day, Sophomore MADISON NANCE swam a 1:18.03 in the 100 yard breaststroke. Nance continued her domination as she finished nearly 5 seconds in front of second place in the 50 yard breatstroke (35.21) for her second win of the day. Her final win of the day came in the 100 yard IM as she turned in a time of 1:08.31.

In the 50 yard freestyle, Freshman JENISE WAITHE turned in a time of 27.81, good enough for first place in the event.

Freshman TRESSIE POLK picked up the win for the Lady Lions in 100 yad butterfly with a time of 1:14.10.

Up next, a quick turn around for the team as they take on Mars Hill on Saturday, January 7th.
