WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Piedmont women's swimming team had an outstanding day at the Salem Invite on Saturday, highlighted by a dual win over Division II Chowan University.
The Lady Lions also trounced DIII foes Salem and Greensboro to improve their dual record to 8-2 on the season. The win over Chowan marks the first in program history for the Lions over a DII foe.
Overall, Piedmont delivered five individual wins, but it was the consistency across the board that carried the day.
ALYSSA SCHULTZ began the day with a narrow win in the 200 free, before
TRESSIE POLK narrowly clipped teammate
OLIVIA BECHTEL by 0.2 seconds in the 200 butterfly.
CAROLINE MASSARO came through in the clutch to defeat Chowan's Erica Mock by less than a second in the 200 backstroke while
MADISON NANCE picked up the final two wins of the day for the Lions with dominant performances in the 200 breast and the 200 IM, taking both by around 10 seconds.
Up next, the Lions will be back in action tomorrow, against William Peace in Cary, North Carolina.
