ATLANTA, Ga. - Piedmont women's cross country runner JAYCIE PONCE has been named the CCS Women's Athlete of the Week, the conference announced Monday afternoon.
The senior from Hoschton, Georgia had a fantastic weekend at the UNG Invitational where she led the team to a third place finish.
Ponce turned in a time of 19:52.5 in the 6k event, which earned her a top 10 finish overall. She was also the highest placing DIII athlete in the field of 78 runners.
This award marks the first time a Piedmont cross country runner has been recognized by the new conference for their achievements.
Ponce and the rest of the cross country squad will be back in action at the Queen City Invitational in Charlotte, N.C on Friday, Sept. 23.
