DEMOREST, Ga. - The No. 13 Piedmont men's golf team has received an at-large bid to the 2022 NCAA Division III Men's Golf National Tournament as the organization announced its field on Monday afternoon.

The Lions received a Pool C at-large berth, reserved for the top-nine teams from conferences with an automatic qualifier that did not win conference championships.

This marks the second consecutive bid for the Lions, who were automatic qualifiers in 2021, earning the program's first-ever bid after capturing last season's USA South Tournament Title.

This season, the Lions have established themselves as a top-15 program throughout the campaign. Piedmont is coming off a fourth-place finish at the USA South Conference Tournament, competing against a loaded field that includes conference champion and No. 1 Methodist and No. 3 Huntingdon.

The tournament is slated to begin next Tuesday, May 10 and will be four rounds (72 holes of stroke play), concluding on Friday, May 13. It will take place at the Mission Inn Resort and Club in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida and is hosted by Oglethorpe University and Greater Orlando Sports Commission. The team and individual champions will be determined after 72 holes of play or the conclusion of the last fully completed round. Forty-three teams and six individuals not on one of those teams will be selected to participate in the championships. After 36 holes of competition, the field will be cut to the top 18 teams and top six individuals not on one of those teams.

A total of 221 participants will compete at the 2022 championship. Thirty-two conferences were awarded an automatic qualification for the championships. Two teams were selected from Pool B, which consists of independent institutions and institutions that are members of conferences that do not meet the requirements for automatic qualification. The final nine berths were reserved for Pool C, which are institutions from automatic-qualifying conferences that are not the conference champion and any remaining Pool B teams. The six individuals are selected from the remaining players who have not qualified with a team. Listed below are the teams and individuals selected for the 2022 championships:

This past fall, the Lions finished in 15th at the NCAA Preview, played at the same course.

Last season, the Lions made the cut in their first ever NCAA Tournament appearance, placing 13th out of 37 teams competing.
