HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. - The Piedmont men's golf team finished the day where it started, sitting in a tie for eighth place as the NCAA Tournament reached its midway point.
Playing in firm, fast and windy conditions at the El Campeon Course on Wednesday, the Lions once again battled back with a strong closing nine to creep back in the top 10 with 36 holes to play in the championship. Piedmont delivered a 309 team score in the blustery conditions
Sophomore
JOSH HEBRINK delivered his second consecutive 74, this time shooting 2-over at the Par 72 El Campeon Course. Hebrink closed in style, making a 15-foot putt for at the difficult 18th hole to move into the top 20 on the individual leaderboard.

Piedmont was able to post four scores in the 70's as
BEN HUBER battled back from a difficult first round to deliver a 6-over 78, including a 1-under 36 on his back nine.
FRED ROBERTS IV battled with a 39 on each side, posting a 6-over 78 as well while
MICHAEL CLARDY delivered the final counting score, battling for his 7-over 79 despite only hitting six greens in regulations on the round.
As a team, the Lions made their move on the three par 5's on the back nine, playing them at 6-under as a team. Eight of the team's nine total birdies on the round came on the final nine holes.
USA South Tournament champions Methodist leads the overall field by six strokes after a field-best 289 team score on Wednesday. The Monarchs' Henry Angier leads the individual field after a second round 69.
Up next, the Lions will tee off at 8 a.m. tomorrow morning on the El Campeon Course. Piedmont will be paired with Babson once again, along with Emory.Â

- Hebrink made three birdies on his closing nine and delivered a 1-under 36 coming home for his second straight 74.
- Huber improved by 10 strokes on Wednesday, finding a zone on his second nine as well with a 1-under 36.
